ISAA Celebrates Governor Pritzker's Signing of SB3517

The Illinois State Ambulance Association (ISAA) is proud to announce that Governor JB Pritzker has signed SB3517 into law, marking another important step forward for emergency medical services across Illinois. SB3517 builds upon and clarifies provisions established through Public Act 104-0248, an ISAA initiative signed into law in 2025, ensuring the legislation functions as intended for patients, ambulance providers, and insurers throughout the state.

This legislation reflects years of collaboration among EMS leaders, legislators, regulators, and stakeholders committed to strengthening Illinois' emergency medical services system. By addressing technical and implementation issues identified following last year's landmark reform, SB3517 provides greater clarity and certainty for ambulance reimbursement while preserving the patient protections that were central to the original legislation

ISAA extends its sincere appreciation to Senator Ram Villivalam and the bipartisan coalition of legislators who championed this measure, as well as Governor Pritzker for his continued support of Illinois patients and EMS professionals. Their leadership demonstrates a commitment to ensuring that ambulance services remain available, sustainable, and prepared to respond when communities need them most.
